Tomoyo Ihaya

Born and raised in Tsu City, Mie, Japan.  A resident of Canada since 2000.

After studying studio arts a number of universities in Canada, Tomoyo Ihaya obtained a M.F.A. (Master of Fine Arts) from University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 2002. 

Her curiosity of other cultures and a strong belief that art and one’s life should be intertwined has lead her to travel and produced art work through international artist-in-residency programs in India, Mexico, Thailand, the United States and Canada. Since 2005, Ihaya has spent an extensive amount of time in India on independent art researches.

She has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally since 1998 and a recipient of numerous awards and grants for artists.

When she is not in India or else, Ihaya lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where she teaches and make art.

井早　智代

三重県津市出身。三重県立津西高校卒業。立教大学文学科ドイツ文学科学士号、アルバータ大学芸術デザイン学部版画科修士号（カナダ　アルバータ州　エドモントン）。
１９９４年にロータリークラブインターナショナルの奨学生としてカナダに留学して以来カナダ在住。２００２年頃よりバンクーバーを拠点にしながらアメリカ合衆国、タイ、メキシコなどのアーティストレジデンスプログラムで制作活動を続ける。２００５年以降は、カナダ芸術協会などからの助成金主にインドで独自のテーマでインド各地を調査し制作、アーティストレジデンス、個展での作品公開をつづける。カナダ芸術協会などからの助成金、賞歴多数。
